Bindings
by: EJ

I'm just staring off into nothingness,
All I can see is never-ending grassy fields,
I watch the different shaped clouds,
Wishing they were tangible,
Wishing I was part of that beautiful blue sky,
The sun shines through this window,
Keeping me warm,
Oh how I wish I were free,
Just like a bird,
Able to fly away from everything,
I imagine words couldn't explain the bliss,
But I sit here bound in this car,
Just like the animals are bound within their fences,
I know how they feel,
Forever trapped in a space until their eventual death,
This car is only a temporary restraint,
My country says I'm free,
I am not,
My life is bound by laws and regulations,
And with these I can never truely be me,
Live how I want to live,
Oh how I wish I could be a bird and be free,
Free to fly away from anyone's restraints.

Driving Snow
by: EJ

I drive along this new road,
Long and narrow,
Snow is falling,
The road sparkles from tiny ice crystals,
The night is clear,
Just like my mind,
I'm in solitude,
Its quite peaceful,
Its a rare occasion,
To be so alone in the world,
But for once not in a sad way,
This trip,
With family,
And a chance to see a friend,
This itself is a rarity too,
I'm not sure what to think of it,
But I know,
Driving is my passion,
But driving in the mountains,
While its snowing,
Is pure bliss,
And good for my soul,
For tonight my heart can rest.

Avoiding Humanity
by: EJ

I wonder who hurt her so bad in the past,
That caused her to constantly hurt others,
Its a game to her,
You're a new toy,
And when shes done with you,
She just throws you away like you're nothing,
I wonder if anything can ever get to her,
Reach her heart and make it warm again,
I hoped I could make the difference in her life,
I think she saw I could,
It scares her more than anything,
To let someone in,
She ran from me,
As far as she could,
It hurts to know she won't speak to me,
But it helps knowing I'm not the only one,
Afterall shes constantly avoiding humanity,
Running from anything of substance,
She's an amazing girl,
I hope one day she'll let someone in,
And give life a chance.

This Time Around
by: EJ

This time around,
I thought it'd be different,
I went about things in a new way,
I put myself out there,
This time around,
It felt so very special,
I thought I'd found my one true love,
I felt it could last forever,
This time around,
I got screwed over,
More than ever before,
My heart snapped in two,
Like a rotten old twig,
This time around,
I was just a figure in a board game,
Only meant to be played,
Only I was blind to it all,
Afterall love is blind,
It was all just a misconception on my part,
Cause this time around,
I really thought I could trust someone,
And oh my was I wrong,
Maybe next time around,
I won't be blind to reality.
